Walk In Art Center’s SOUPer Bowl and artist Jon Bond exhibition in February

February is a busy month at the Walk In Art Center, beginning with a solo art exhibition featuring the work of Berks County artist Jon Bond on Feb. 2 at 6 p.m.

The exhibition’s opening reception is free to the public, who will be able to listen to an audio tour that evening.

Bond’s work has a rustic Americana feel to it with scenes from the woods in northern Berks County and from his own backyard. The audio tour will describe the location and what the artist was thinking as he re-created those scenes on canvas.

While visiting, folks can travel down Studio Row and visit the WIAC artists during the First Friday Open House that same night. Kelly Mueller is the Studio Artist of the Month, and her quirky pieces will be on display throughout the lobby and hallways.

Bond’s exhibit will run through March 17, so if you can’t make it to the opening, you can view his work at the WIAC’s fourth annual SOUPer Bowl on Feb. 9 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

“The SOUPer Bowl is one of our favorite events,” Executive Director Jacquie Engel said. “The clay department works all year for this event, and more than 150 come to choose a bowl and some soups. It’s great fun!”

Tickets for the SOUPer Bowl are $25. People will choose a bowl or mug, get it wrapped and then choose two cups of soup, chips, and dessert, all tidied up in a nice, handled to-go bag. Additional bowls and pottery items will be for sale as well.

Soups are provided by Carmelo’s Roman Delight, Hess’ Catering and others. Check facebook.com/walkinartcenter for an update on the types of soup. Visitng walkinartcenter.org and click the events tab to purchase tickets.
