WCR Center for the Arts Announces Knitting & Crochet Club

WCR Center for the Arts invites community members to join its new Knitting & Crochet Club, a warm and welcoming gathering for yarn enthusiasts of all skill levels. Whether you’re just starting out with a pair of knitting needles, picking up a crochet hook for the first time, or are a seasoned crafter with years of experience, the club offers the perfect place to connect, create, and share.

Each meeting features an informal mix of stitching, conversation, and idea-sharing. Participants can learn new techniques, exchange project tips, and enjoy the camaraderie of fellow makers in a relaxed gallery setting.

Executive director Adam Void expresses a lot of hope for the pilot program. “Even though we’ve only scheduled three dates so far, based on the feedback I’ve received so far, I think this is going to become a staple for WCR. Both knitting and crocheting are great activities, getting folks to slow down, engage in a hands-on activity, and create something,” he said. “We are so blessed to have a space steeped in history and central to our city, and we look forward to this opportunity for more folks to come together and create community around a common interest.”

The Knitting & Crochet Club meets on select Wednesdays from 6:00–8:00 p.m. in the WCR Gallery:

Location: WCR Center for the Arts, 140 N. 5th St., Reading, PA

The program is free to attend, and participants are encouraged to bring their own projects and supplies. Metered parking on 5th Street and Walnut Street becomes free at 6:00pm. There is also a small lot behind WCR, accessible by turning onto Madison from Washington Street.

We are so grateful to our partners and sponsors for this event: Reading Coffee Company for donating the decaf coffee; Pure Air Life, LLC for providing the sweet treats; and Sandy Graffius of Strictly for Seniors and Elaine McDevitt for delivering yarn to be used by anyone in attendance.
