Wilson swimmers win two events at PIAA championships, set record in 200 medley relay

Wilson’s Kai Boyer won the 100-yard butterfly on Friday at the PIAA Class 3A Swimming and Diving Championships at Bucknell University and the Bulldogs’ girls set a meet record in a relay event.

Boyer, a junior, swam 48.33 for the gold medal, with Eddie Stoltz of West Chester Henderson second in 48.50.

Wilson’s girls 200 medley relay not only swam to a gold medal but set a PIAA record in winning the event in 1:41.47. The relay team was made up of Olivia Vecchio, Emma Dougherty,Evelyn Quick and Madalee Roberts.

The Bulldogs were also second in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:34.86. Hatboro Horsham won in 1:32.99. Gov. Mifflin finished seventh in the race at 1:37.74.

Quick also finished third in the 100 butterfly in a time of 55.37, with Hatboro Horsham’s Annie Jia winning in a new PIAA record 50.65. Vecchio was fifth in the race at 56.14.

Gov. Mifflin senior Braden Weise finished third in the 50 freestyle in 20.35, and Reading High’s Trey Stricker finished seventh in the race at 20.53.

Roberts was sixth in the girls 50 free in 23.59.

Wilson’s 200 medley relay finished fifth in the boys race with a time of 1:32.61.
