Yocum Institute Presents Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein Oct. 24-26

From Yocum Institute for Arts Education

The Yocum Institute for Arts Education invites audiences to experience a bold and haunting adaptation of Mary Shelley’s iconic novel. This play explores the dark depths of ambition, creation, and what it means to be human. Rona Munro’s ‘inventive feminist adaptation’ (The Stage) of Mary Shelley’s Gothic masterpiece places the writer herself amongst the action as she wrestles with her creation and with the stark realities facing revolutionary young women, then and now.

Directed by Andrea Kennedy Hart, Shelley’s timeless tale of ambition, creation, and humanity comes to life on stage at the Schumo Theater, inside the Yocum Institute, located at 3000 Penn Ave. in West Lawn, from Friday, Oct. 24, to Sunday, Oct. 26.

This production blends classic gothic atmosphere with a modern emotional intensity, exploring what it truly means to be human. “This version of Frankenstein is as much about the creation of the story as the story itself,” said Director Hart. “One of my favorite messages from this play is that ultimately, we need to be responsible for what we create.”

Don’t miss this gripping, imaginative retelling of one of literature’s greatest gothic masterpieces — just in time for Halloween!
