Yocum Institute Presents “The Folk Show” – A Celebration of Regional Folk Art Traditions

From Yocum Institute for Arts Education

The Yocum Institute for Arts Education invites the community to the Opening Reception of The Folk Show on Sunday, Oct. 19, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., in the Holleran Gallery. The full exhibition runs from Friday, Oct. 17, to Saturday, Nov. 29, and is free and open to the public.

This vibrant exhibition celebrates the rich traditions of regional folk art, featuring both legendary and emerging artists from Berks County and beyond. Visitors will experience an inspiring range of folk-inspired works, including hex signs, redware pottery, fraktur paintings on wood, stitchery, and textile art. Additional highlights include wood carvings, handcrafted furniture, collage, egg tempera paintings, and beautifully decorated pysanky eggs.

Alongside the exhibition, guests can explore a craft bazaar offering handmade goods and folk crafts that reflect the heart and heritage of the local community.

Join us as we honor the artistry, storytelling, and craftsmanship that define the region’s folk traditions — celebrating creativity, culture, and community at the Yocum Institute.
