A 19-year-old man was fatally shot Sunday evening in the Oakbrook Homes neighborhood and another male was wounded, Reading police said.
Police are also investigating a nonfatal shooting that happened at South Sixth and Spruce streets that happened after the Oakbrook shooting.
Investigators on Monday morning provided the following information about the shootings:
Officers responded to the 1000 block of Patton Avenue for a report of a shooting. They learned one shooting victim, the 19-year-old, was taken by a personal vehicle to Reading Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Officers found another shooting victim at the scene. The male suffered a single gunshot wound and was taken to Reading Hospital for treatment.
In the second shooting, officers were sent at 12:04 a.m. Monday to Sixth and Spruce streets to investigate gunfire. They found a 28-year-old man suffering from two non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
He was taken to Reading Hospital for treatment. Police said he was uncooperative with investigators.
The investigations are continuing, and additional information will be released when it becomes available, police said.
