1 dead after 3-vehicle crash in Exeter

One person is dead following a three-vehicle crash that also injured five other people in Exeter Township, police said.

Police responded Friday about 2:30 p.m. to the crash near 37th Street and Perkiomen Avenue.

According to police:

Six victims of the crash were transported to area hospitals by EMS providers. One  occupant’s medical condition worsened after the crash and later died at Reading Hospital.

Police are not yet releasing the names of those involved in the crash.

One vehicle with a driver and two passengers was eastbound on Perkiomen Avenue and crossed into oncoming traffic, striking two westbound vehicles.

One of those vehicles had two people in it, and the other had only a driver.

The fire company had to free the driver of the original striking vehicle.

The 3600 bIock of Perkiomen Avenue was closed for just over an hour.

The investigation continues, and police are asking that anyone who witnessed the crash contact them at the police department at 610-779-1490 or through the Berks County
