Schools are chosen for the guide based on surveys of students currently attending the colleges. The new 2022 edition also uses data from past lists because many colleges had limited in-person experiences last school year during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Review provides several different lists of top colleges in categories including for best financial aid, professors, career services, health services and classroom experience.

The lists do not rank the schools included in each category.

The Review listed a total of 223 top colleges in the Northeast region. Fifty-three Pennsylvania schools made the list.

For Kutztown, it is the 19th straight year the university was named a top college in the Northeast region. Albright has been on the list in 17 of the last 18 years.
