Princeton University and Williams College have once again been named the top colleges in the country by U.S. News & World Report.
U.S. News & World Report has released its annual lists of the bests schools in the U.S., ranking colleges and universities in a variety of categories. A total of 1,500 schools received rankings this year.
For the 2022-23 list, Princeton and Williams repeated their performances from last year as the top national university and top liberal arts college.
U.S. News & World Report assesses colleges and universities based on 17 metrics of academic quality, with the most weight placed on outcome measures such as graduation and retention rates and average graduate indebtedness. Average class size, undergraduate academic reputation and how much colleges invest in instruction and student services are among the other data points collected to develop the latest set of rankings.
Schools are ranked in two dozen different categories, ranging from top national universities and liberal arts colleges to top regional universities and liberal arts colleges to best value schools to the schools with the best first-year experience.
