Conrad Weiser’s Gavin Rapp, Schuylkill Valley’s John Kowalski and Reading High’s Xavier Beatty put on impressive performances Saturday in the boys portion of the Schuylkill Valley Track and Field Invitational in Leesport.
Rapp won three events, and Kowalski and Beatty each won two.
Rapp won the 110 and 300 hurdles and the high jump, with Kowalski taking the 100 and 200 dashes, and Beatty winning the long and triple jumps.
Rapp, a senior, won the 110 hurdles in 14.95, with Wilson freshman Damian Greer second in 15.16. Rapp’s time is the 39th best in the state in all classes.
Rapp won the 300 hurdles in 41.26, with Hamburg junior Mason Gruber second in 42.29.
In the high jump, Rapp cleared 6-2 for the win.
Kowalski, a senior, won the 100 in 10.97, edging Boyertown senior Luke Biehl (11.01).
In the 200, Kowalski won in 21.61 with Brandywine Heights senior David Bates second in 21.99. Kowalski’s 200 time ranks him 10th in the state in all classes and ninth in Class 3A. Bates’ time ranks him first in Class 2A.
Beatty, a senior and the runner-up in last year’s PIAA 3A long jump, won that event in 22-6, and the triple jump in 43-7½. Beatty ranks fifth in the state in all classes with a season-best 23-4. Kutztown senior James Undercuffler was second in the triple jump in 43-2.
In the shot put, Exeter senior Logan Wegman won with a heave of 56-2. The Navy commit is ranked sixth in the state in classes with a season-best of 57-4¼.
His teammate Riley Martinez, the Eagles’ starting quarterback in football, won the discus with a throw of 151-6, and Boyertown sophomore Daniel Wysocki won the javelin at 159-0.
Rounding out the field events, Oley Valley freshman Jacob Mackie cleared 13-6 for the win.
In the 400-meter dash, Conrad Weiser freshman Collin Moore ran 51.56 for the win, and in the 800, Oley Valley junior Andrew Zook won in 2:00.69.
Oley Valley junior Ryan Gourley won the 3,200-meter run in 9:46.16, which ranks him 19th statewide in Class 2A.
Boyertown senior Aiden Voth won the 1,600-meter run in 4:24.74 .
Boyertown on the 4 x 100 relay (43.07) and 4 x 400 (3:29.57), and Conrad Weiser won the 4 x 800 relay in 8:33.38.
Cy Fritz Invitational
At the Cy Fritz Invitational at Millersville University, Gov. Mifflin senior Maddox Noll won the shot put with big improvement on his personal best by over three feet, winning in 56-0¼.
Before this season, Noll had not throw over 50 feet and entering the Fritz meet with a personal best of 53-0.
Noll’s teammate Tristan Shayo won the 110-meter hurdles in 14.45 and the 300 hurdles in 39.97. His 110 hurdles time ranks him 10th in the state in all classes and sixth in Class 3A.
