In a matchup between two teams atop of the Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 5 standings, Schuylkill Valley emerged with a 30-21 victory over Hamburg at Hawk Hill in the 2024 Frost Bowl.
Panthers senior quarterback Logan Nawrocki threw three touchdown passes to lead Schuylkill Valley and put them in sole possession of first place in Section 5.
After a missed field goal by the Hawks and holding a 17-14 lead, Nawrocki led the Panthers (5-0, 6-2) on a scoring drive that would prove to be a difference maker. After taking over with 10 minutes to go in the game, Schuylkill Valley completed a 7-play, 80-yard drive with a 36-yard touchdown pass from Nawrocki to Lucas Spotts. The play made it 24-14 with 7:44 to go and was Nawrocki’s third of the game.
Hamburg answered quickly with a 3-play, 52-yard scoring drive that was completed by a 30-yard touchdown pass from Tyler Shuey to Daniel Brady to make it 24-21 with 6:51 to go.
The Panthers would not be deterred, however, and a 41-yard pass play on third down and nine from Nawrocki to Spotts kept the ensuing drive alive and the clock running. At the Hawks’ 40 following the big-time pass connection, Schuylkill Valley used the ground game and Logan Cammauf to pick up three more first downs to get into scoring position.
On fourth and goal from the 2 with 59 seconds left, a 2-yard touchdown run by Cooper Hohenadel sealed the victory for the Panthers. The extra point attempt was blocked to close out the scoring at 30-21.
The Hawks failed to score on their final possession.

Late in the first quarter, Naworcki threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Alexander Gehret that completed a 6-play, 51-yard scoring drive for Schuylkill Valley to make it 10-0 Panthers after the first quarter.
A 28-yard field goal by Reese Wamsher opened the scoring for Schuylkill Valley with 10:03 to go in the first quarter.
Hamburg outscored the Panthers 14-7 in the second quarter.

Also on the touchdown play, Shuey became Hamburg’s all-time passing yards leader.
Naworcki threw his second touchdown pass from 10 yards once again late in the second quarter, this time to Spotts. Nawrocki floated a perfectly thrown ball to Spotts on a post route in the corner of the endzone and the extra point made it 17-6.
Late in the second, Shuey found space down the left side and scored a 21-yard rushing touchdown with 25 seconds to go in the opening half. A two-point conversion pass to Luis Ortiz made 17-14 at halftime.
In the second half, Shuey gave up a fumble that was recovered by Brandon Pyle on Hamburg’s first possession of the third quarter. However, Schuylkill Valley was unable to capitalize on the ensuing possession and turned it over on downs at the Hawks’ 23.
Hamburg had another promising drive come up short. After advancing to the Panthers 17’, Eli Blatt missed a 34-yard, game-tying field goal for the Hawks at the start of the fourth.
