Berks high school sports roundup for Dec. 10: Ty Werley leads Hamburg to 70-63 win

Ty Werley scored 25 points to lead Hamburg to a 70-63 boys basketball victory over Elco on Tuesday night.

Werley had eight points in the first quarter, including two three-pointers, as the Hawks jumped out to a 22-10 lead.

Werley added five more points in the second quarter as Hamburg led at halftime 41-18.

Ricky Clark had 13 points for the Hawks, Andrew Arroyo added 12 and Ty Shuey 11.

Girls basketball

Sophia Benner scored all 16 of her points in the second quarter as Brandywine Heights came back from a 14-2 deficit to beat Kutztown 36-35 in girls basketball on Tuesday.

Kutztown led 14-2 after the first quarter as Jade Fitzgerald scored six points.

Benner then got hot, hitting four three-pointers and Brandywine Heights pulled to within four, 24-20, at halftime.

Addison Benner scored seven of her nine points in the second half as Brandywine trailed by one after three quarters, 30-29.

Jayden Gehris led Kutztown with 11 points.
