Berks high school sports roundup Sept. 14-15

Exeter’s boys water polo team won all three of its matches at the Springfield Tournament.

The Eagles defeated Springfield 16-7 as Evan Carl scored 11 goals, and had 3 assists, 2 steals and block.

Also in the match, Charles Jacoby had 3 goals and a block, and Will Keim made 11 saves, and had 6 assists and 5 steals.

The Eagles defeated Lower Merion 12-6 as seven different players scored.

Carl and Charles Jacoby each had three goals.

Alex Popa had two goals and Bryson Otero, Charlie Rogers, James Gierlich and William Keim one goal each.

Jonah Matteo chipped in 2 assists and 3 steals, Kurt Achenbach had 5 saves 5 assists.

Exeter also beat Upper Perkiomen 20-10 in the tournament.

Charles Jacoby had 7 goals and Car 6 goals.

Ben Lynch and Charlie Rogers each had 2 goals, and Aiden Boehm had 7 assists and 3 steals.

Girls water polo

Mimi Sahaida and Meghan Wagner each scored goals to lead Exeter to a 10-5 high school girls water polo victory over Upper Perkiomen on Saturday.

Wagner also had five steals. Maddy McCraw had 10 saves and five steals. Amelia Fanning had six assists, two steals and a goal.

Exeter 11, Lower Merion 7

Raelin Tufariello scored three goals and two steals to lead Exeter to an 11-7 win over Lower Merion.

Kinley Guziak, Meghan Wagner and Neema Kamau each had two goals for the Eagles.

Springfield 11, Exeter 4

Meghan Wagner scored three goals in Exeter’s 11-4 loss to Springfield.

Also for the Eagles, Amelia Fanning had a goal and two steals, and Maddy McCraw made 11 saves and five steals.

Girls volleyball

Exeter won four matches at the Hempfield Volleyball Tournament before losing in the semifinals.

In pool play, the Eagles defeated Penn Manor 25-11, 25-15, 25-23; New Oxford 25-19, 25-15, 25-23; and Dallastown.

In the quarterfinals, they beat Elizabethtown 25-19, and then lost to Dallastown 19-15, 25-17, 15-9 in the semifinals.

In the tournament for the Eagles, Lily Acker had 118 assists, 20 digs, 4 aces and 3 blocks; Jillian Warner had 46 kills, 40 digs, 8 aces and 3 blocks; and Taylor Mack had 41 kills, 23 digs, 9 aces. Sami Baer added 51 digs, and Ridleigh Moyer had 15 kills and 3 blocks.

Berks Catholic drops two matches

Berks Catholic lost to Trinity 3-1 and Bishop McDevitt 3-0 in girls volleyba.

For the Saints, Celia Evans 22 digs and an ace, and Antonia Antolini had 9 kills 2 digs and 4 blocks.

Girls tennis

Devra Longacre won at second singles for Brandywine Heights in a 5-2 loss to Pequea Valley in a high school soccer match.

Longacre combined with Kayla Wilson to win at first doubles.
