Berks man dies in hospital after being struck by car while crossing Wyomissing street

A Spring Township man, 83, died in Reading Hospital on Monday, a day after being struck by a car in Wyomissing, police said.

Joseph M. Daly was crossing Berkshire Boulevard within the crosswalk at the intersection with Paper Mill Road, not far from his home, about 9 a.m. Sunday when he was struck by a car that was turning left from Paper Mill, police said.

The driver of the car, an older woman whose name police withheld, told investigators that she didn’t see the pedestrian as she entered into the turn.

Daly was taken by ambulance to Reading Hospital.

Daly was pronounced dead at 6:37 p.m. Monday by a staff doctor, officials at the Berks County coroner’s office said.

He died of head injuries and the death was ruled accidental.
