An Exeter Township man died late Sunday in Reading Hospital of injuries suffered three days earlier in a three-vehicle crash on Route 222 in Maidencreek Township, Berks County acting Coroner Jonn M. Hollenbach said Monday morning.
Kevin Crossett, 28, was pronounced dead by a physician at 11 p.m. An autopsy is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday evening.
Crossett was one of two people taken to the hospital after the crash about 4:30 p.m. Thursday in the 8800 block of Allentown Pike, also known as Route 222, between Evansville and Pleasant Hill roads. The name of the other patient wasn’t available.
The crash, which involved a tractor-trailer, closed the road for more than five hours.
The timing of the crash led to significant backups on Route 222 and congestion on back roads in the area.
The state police crash reconstruction unit responded to assist police in the investigation.
The crash remains under investigation by Northern Berks Regional police, who have not provided further details.
