A 26-year-old woman was fatally injured when she was struck by a motorcycle Monday night in northeast Reading, according to a report by city police.
Ana R. Baez of South Heidelberg Township was taken to Reading Hospital, where she died following the accident that occurred at 11:05 p.m. on Hiesters Lane between Richmond Street and Kutztown Road, police said in the crash report.
The motorcycle rider, Joshua S. Malave, 20, of Reading, was taken to the hospital for evaluation of a minor injury, police said.
According to the crash report:
Malave was eastbound on the sport bike in the 700 block of Hiester, when Baez was crossing the road midblock. Malave didn’t see the pedestrian, and the motorcycle struck her, causing a head injury that left her unresponsive.
Police listed the improper crossing of the roadway by a pedestrian as the primary cause of the accident.
