Brandywine Heights beats Delone Catholic in District 3 Class 1A girls soccer opener

Brandywine Heights got goals from three different players to defeat Delone Catholic 3-0 in the first round of the District 3 Class 1A girls soccer tournament Monday at McSherrystown

The ninth-seeded Bullets (8-10-1) took a 1-0 lead against the eighth-seeded Squirettes (8-8-2) with 18:15 left in the first half on a goal by Lauren Stoudt. In the second half, Sienna Miller scored off an assist from Julia Coblentz with 31:18 left, and Olivia Moyer scored with 7:19 left.

Brandywine advances to play at top-seeded Fairfield (14-0), which had a first-round bye, in a quarterfinal Wednesday at 7 p.m.

The Bullets avenged a 4-3 loss to the Squirettes in last year’s quarterfinals.

Class 3A

Solanco 1, Fleetwood 0: Monday at Fleetwood, Emma Housekeeper scored off an assist from Josie Janssen with 24 minutes left to lift the ninth-seeded Golden Mules (14-5) over the eighth-seeded Tigers (13-7-1) in a Class 3A first-round game.

Fleetwood outshot Solanco 10-7, but could not beat goalie Kyleigh Murphy.

Abby Rowley finished with six saves for the Tigers.

The Golden Mules advance to play at top-seeded Northern York, a 5-0 winner over Twin Valley Monday, in a quarterfinal game Thursday, time to be announced.

Northern York 5, Twin Valley 0: Monday at Dillsburg, the 16th-seeded Raiders (10-9) saw their season end with the loss to the top-seeded Polar Bears (18-0-1).

Manheim Central 0, Boone 0 (Manheim Central wins 3-2 in PKs): Monday at Manheim, the 10th-seeded Blazers (11-7) were eliminated by the seventh-seeded Barons (12-5) in penalty kicks after neither team could score in regulation or overtime.

Manheim Central had advantages of 8-4 in shots and 11-3 in corners.

The Barons will play at second-seeded Hershey, a 4-0 winner over Middletown Monday, in a quarterfinal game Thursday, time to be announced.
