Breland Moore will be guest speaker at Berks Hall of Fame Scholarship Dinner

FOX 29 sports anchor Breland Moore, a Muhlenberg High School graduate, will be the guest speaker for the annual Berks County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame Scholarship Dinner June 11 at Victor Emmanuel II Club, Reading.

The Berks chapter annually honors 36 outstanding student-athletes, a senior boy and a girl from 18 high schools, with the Dr. Richard Flannery Memorial Scholarship, which has been increased to $800 this year.

Moore joined the FOX 29 News team in May 2021. She also is a co-host of “The 215,” a weekly program showcasing the people, places and things that make the Philadelphia area unique.

Before joining FOX 29, she spent two years at KCTV in Kansas City, Mo., and three years at WHEC in Rochester, N.Y., where she was nominated for an Emmy Award.

She began her television career at Service Electric Cable in Allentown after graduating from Temple University.

The scholarship dinner, which is open to the public, will begin with a social hour and pizza at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 6 and the program at 7.

The scholarship recipients were selected by their respective schools based on their classroom and athletic achievements, sportsmanship and character. The honorees are:

Antietam: Airyana Jones and Shawn Raffety; Berks Catholic: Allison Devine and Trey Stricker; Brandywine Heights: Devra Longacre and Bergen Smeltz; Conrad Weiser: Sarina Neiswender and Mason Gechter; Daniel Boone: Brook Spano and Max Heffner; Exeter: Addison Matthews and Carter Redding; Fleetwood: Emily Miller and Thomas Cox; Gov. Mifflin: Kayleigh O’Brien and Garrett Hyneman; Hamburg: Shelby Dougherty and Brady Breininger; Kutztown: Sadie Berger and Tucker Hilliard; Muhlenberg: Alexis Garl and Samson Evans; Oley Valley: Valerie Palmiotti and Ben DeBalko; Reading: Yamilex Rodriguez and Gabriel Laws; Schuylkill Valley: Caitlyn Reali and Joshua Emery; Tulpehocken: Abigail Gehris and Jarred Baer; Twin Valley: Kylie Duke and Vincent Acinapura; Wilson: Madalee Roberts and Christo Hunsicker; Wyomissing: Katie Scantzos and Caleb Beane.
