At 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 11, the Combined Veterans Council of Berks County will host the annual Veterans Day ceremony in Veterans Grove at Reading City Park.
Retired Marine Reserve Sgt. Maj. Rocco C. DeCamillo will be the main speaker. DeCamillo served in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. He is an Exeter Township police detective sergeant.

Wills for Heroes
The Berks County Bar Association invites veterans along with police officers, volunteer firefighters and other first responders to register for a free Wills for Heroes event on Nov. 16 at Muhlenberg High School, 400 Sharp Ave., Laureldale.
Volunteer attorneys will be preparing a simple will and financial and health care powers of attorney for veterans, emergency responders and their spouses who qualify. Appointments are required. The first appointment will be at 9 a.m. To register, visit www.berksbar.org or call 610-375-4591 ext. 6.
The program is intended for individuals with estates valued at about $1 million or less. To determine the value of your estate, calculate the amount you have in cash, value of personal property, stocks and bonds, real estate equity, savings, and cash value of a whole/universal life insurance policy only; not the amount of the insurance policy.

The Berks County Parks & Recreation department has scheduled the following programs for November:
Wednesday, Nov. 6, 6 to 8 p.m. Cast Resin workshop at the Heritage Center. Cast and create a wearable piece of jewelry from found natural objects. $10 per person, registration required
Thursday, Nov. 14, 10 to 11 a.m. Trail Tales at the Heritage Center. This program for children ages 3-5 focuses on a nature topic partnered with a story and a craft. Free but registration required.
Friday, Nov. 15, 5:30 p.m. Full Moon Hike at Berks Leisure Area. Walk the Union Canal Trail on the evening of the full moon. Free but registration required.
Sunday, Nov. 17, noon to 2 p.m. Orange and Cinnamon Spice Holiday Wreath Workshop at the Beidler House in Gibraltar. Create a botanical wreath using a grapevine base and fragrant natural botanicals. Vendor and Craft Fair
The Brandywine Community Library’s annual Vendor and Craft Fair is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Henry Auditorium on the campus of the Lutheran Home, 1 S. Home Ave., Topton. Event includes local vendors and a basket raffle featuring gift certificates to local businesses and tickets to area attractions. Food and Gertrude Hawk candy bars for sale.
Ventriloquist event
The Cultural Series team at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 117 E. Arch St., Fleetwood, is sponsoring a special family event on Sunday, Nov. 10, at 3 p.m. “Ryan and Friends” features Ryan Bomgardner, a Christian ventriloquist comedian from Ephrata. The program is suitable for all ages.

Glassware talk
On Thursday, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m., the Hamburg Area Historical Society presents a talk by Randy Wenhold in the Hamburg High School LGI room. He will be speaking on the types of American glassware of the 19th and early 20th century, including the importance of the development of glass making in the industrialization of America and glassware’s role in the middle class family.
Fall book sale
The Friends of Mifflin Community Library fall book sale is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 7, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Nov. 8 and 9 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the library, 6 Philadelphia Ave., Shillington. There will be a $5 bag sale Friday and Saturday. 6 Philadelphia Ave., Shillington.
The organization also is holding a holiday pie fundraiser featuring 9-inch pies from Weaver’s Orchard for $18 each. History program
Hawk Mountain Chapter 31: Society of Pennsylvania Archaeology, is meeting Monday, Nov. 4, at 7 p.m. in the Hamburg Municipal Building, 61 N. Third St. The topic is the American Revolution and the Philadelphia campaign. The discussion will be led by Jim Christ, president of the Paoli Battlefield Preservation Fund and will focus on the battles of Brandywine, Paoli and Germantown and the encampment at Valley Forge. Heritage celebration
Penn State Berks will welcome Piscataway Nation Singers & Dancers to honor and celebrate Indigenous and Native American Heritage Month on Monday, Nov. 4 at 12:15 p.m. in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium on the Spring Township campus. The event is free and open to the public.
The event promises an immersive experience intended to educate and entertain audiences who want to learn more about Indigenous and Native American culture and tradition.

The Sinking Spring Library will present a community program on Nov. 7 at 7 p.m., Sinking Spring Borough Hall, 3940 Penn Ave. Paul Miller, president of the Sinking Spring Area Historical Society will show “A Visit to the Sinking Spring,” a history of the town in vintage views along Penn Avenue. Veterans appreciation
Sen. Chris Gebhard and Rep. Jamie Barton invite veterans of the 48th Senatorial District to attend a veterans appreciation lunch on Saturday, Nov. 9, at Cabela’s in Tilden Township. Check-in begins at 11:30 a.m. with lunch and the program commencing at noon.
Col. Frank Ryan, former state representative and Iraq War veteran, will be the keynote speaker.

Play in Exeter
Exeter High School is presenting performances of the play “Radium Girls” Nov. 7 and 9 at 7 p.m. The play tells the story of a legal battle in the 1920s over the use of radium and its ill effects on workers.

Christmas bazaars
A Christmas bazaar is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 9 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Harmony United Methodist Church off Route 10 north of Morgantown. The bazaar includes hand-painted decorations, gifts and crafts, handmade fabric ornaments, Christmas and winter wreaths and arrangements and baked goods. A quilt drawing will be held at 2 p.m. Entrants do not need to be present to win. The Joanna Store Food Truck and Lorah’s Candy Scamper will be at the event.
St. John’s Lutheran Church, 1035 Old River Road, Robeson Township, is holding a holiday bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 9, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Food, home-baked cookies and other baked goods will be for sale. There will be vendors, a white elephant sale and a chance auction. Santa Claus will be there from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m..
