The Greater Reading Chamber Alliance’s Taste of Berks will be held Monday, Nov. 20, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Berkshire Mall in Wyomissing.
The event includes samples from more than 30 food and drink vendors along with a photo booth, Caricatures by Courtney, access to the rest of the mall and a visit with Santa Claus. There will be a beer and wine garden for attendees over the age of 21.
Registration required: $30 for people age 12 and up; $15 for children ages 3 to 11. Children under 2 get in free. Tickets are nonrefundable but may be transferred to another attendee. Register at tinyurl.com/tasteofberks2023.
Art and Craft Festival
The Reading-Berks Guild of Craftsmen presents the 73rd annual Juried Holiday Fine Art and Craft Festival on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Kutztown University’s O’Pake Fieldhouse.
The event features traditional and contemporary works by more than 75 juried artists and craftsmen along with a student gallery with works by emerging artists and craftsmen.
There will be live music, an eat-in cafe and hourly door prizes. The first 50 patrons through the doors each day will receive a gift.

Albright lecture
State Department official Eugene O’Neal will provide insights into his experience working in the foreign service for the annual Spancake Lecture on Political Discourse to be held Monday at 6 p.m. in Albright College’s Science Center Lecture Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
He has been posted to positions in Lebanon and Jordan and is currently serving in Kuwait, from where he will speak remotely.
Nathan Henceroth, assistant professor of political science at Albright, will moderate the lecture, followed by a question-and-answer session.
The annual Spancake Lecture aims to bring prominent speakers to the college, representing a range of perspectives while encouraging dialogue on pressing and controversial issues.
Veterans program
Keystone Villa at Douglassville is honoring veterans during a breakfast program and pinning ceremony on Friday, Nov. 10, at 8:30 a.m., at the Independent Living building, 1180 Ben Franklin Highway East, Amity Township.
In observance of Veterans Day and to show appreciation to the men and women who selflessly served to protect our nation, veterans are welcome to a complimentary breakfast followed by a pinning ceremony.

Friends of Sinking Spring Public Library is holding a book sale on Friday and Saturday at 3940 Penn Ave. Hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Sale also includes CDs, DVDs, games and half-price puzzles.
Library fundraisers
Friends of Mifflin Community Library is holding a book sale on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be a $5 bag sale the final two days.
The library group also is holding a pie fundraiser featuring seven varieties made by Weaver’s Orchard. Pies are made with fresh fruit, frozen, boxed and ready to bake and cost $17 each. Order by Nov. 4. Pickup at library on Nov. 18.

Library campaign chair
John H. Gallen Jr. has been named as Campaign Chair of the Reading Public Library’s 2023 Annual Appeal. Gallen is the owner of Ethosource Office Furniture, Spring Township.
“The Reading Public Library is about so much more than books,” Gallen said in the library’s announcement of his appointment. “It’s a safe and welcoming place with free programs and activities for people of all ages. Young people learn about creative writing and healthy eating. Teens enjoy “Pizza and Pages” and “Mindfulness Moments.” Adults use free computers and outside internet access for job applications, research, and telemedicine. The library is vital to our community and worthy of our support.”
The goal for the 2023 campaign is $48,000. Funds raised will support library staff who bring STEM activities to city children, career training to teens, and telehealth training and access to our community’s seniors.

Museum open house
The Leesport Area Historical Society Museum, 128 Main St., will hold an open house Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. Visit the 1858 schoolhouse that served the community until 1961. The tour includes a classroom circa 1940/50’s and a museum room including a rare printing press and Quaker marriage certificate dating to 1757. The current exhibit features local advertising signage and kitchen tools.
