Penn State Berks is holding a free public event, the “Eras Tour (Penn State Berks Version)” Saturday, Nov. 2, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Perkins Plaza on the Spring Township campus.
Admission is free and open to the public, but advance registration is required at berks.psu.edu/public-events-calendar/special-events/eras-tour.
Students from the college’s “Taylor Swift, Gender, and Communication” course will guide guests through an interactive tour of each era/album of Swift’s career. There will be a photo booth along with games and activities. There will be a performance of Swift’s hits by the Stephanie Grace Band at noon.
Fundraising gala
Opportunity House will hold a fundraising gala Nov. 14 from 6:30 to 11 p.m. in the Miller Center for the Arts at Reading Area Community College.
The event will celebrate the organization’s 40th anniversary and the many lives the shelter has changed.
Entertainment will be provided by the Craig Thatcher Trio. Tickets cost $250 per person and are available at e.givesmart.com/events/DxX/.
Ag career fair
The Berks County Department of Agriculture is holding an Agriculture & Natural Resources Career Fair on Thursday, Nov. 14, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Leesport Farmers Market in Ontelaunee Township.
Only 10% of people who work in agriculture are farmers. The rest work in supporting fields such as biotechnology, robotics, engineering and mechanics, business management, economics and finance, education and research, forestry, lumber and wood products, agronomy, animal production, entomology, veterinary science, food production and packaging, landscaping and conservation and natural resources.
Exhibitors from businesses, government agencies and universities will be at the event to discuss career opportunities.

Boone birthday
The Daniel Boone Homestead will celebrate its namesake’s 290th birthday on Sunday, Nov. 3, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Exeter Township site.
The guest speaker will be Boone biographer Robert Morgan, who is scheduled to appear at 2 p.m. and will sign books after his talk. There will be a birthday party with Colonial toys and games, crafts and birthday cake. Boone House tours will be offered throughout the afternoon, and other historic buildings on the site will be open.
Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for those 65 and older, $5 for ages 6-17 and free for children under 5 and Daniel Boone Homestead Associates members.
History open house
A Leesport Historical Society open house is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 3, from 1 to 4 p.m. at 128 Main St. Visit the 1858 schoolhouse that served the community until 1961. See original school items and local and regional artifacts including a 1750s Quaker Marriage Certificate.
Craft festival
The Reading-Berks Guild of Craftsmen has scheduled its 74th annual juried Holiday Fine Art and Craft Festival on Saturday, Nov. 2, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 3, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Michael O’Pake Field House at Kutztown University. The event features works made by more than 70 craftsmen from Pennsylvania and beyond.

Apple dumplings
Fleetwood Grange, 2864 Moselem Springs Road, is selling apple dumplings on Tuesday, Nov. 12, cost is $4.50 each. Pickup is at the Grange hall from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. Orders must be made in advance by calling 484-793-2860. Order deadline is Friday, Nov. 1.
Turkey supper
A turkey supper will be held Saturday, Nov. 2, from 3 to 7 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 1979 Weavertown Road, Amityville. Dinner is served buffet style and includes turkey, potato filling, green beans, corn, pepper cabbage, cranberry sauce, roll and butter. Turkey soup, coffee and pie will be served at the table.

Farm program
On Saturday, Nov. 2, from 2:30 to 5 p.m., the Dreibelbis Farm Historical Society will host a family-oriented fall program at the site near Virginville.
There will be nonscary hayrides, a bonfire, free hot dogs and s’mores, pumpkin-decorating, apple cider pressing and face painting. A Kutztown University drama group will read family-friendly stories.
There is a $5 admission donation to benefit the farm, (children 3 and under get in free). The donation covers all activities and refreshments; on-site parking is free. Anything more than a chance of drizzle in the weather forecast will cause organizers to cancel the event.

Turkey Trot
The ninth annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 28, at Boyertown Community Park, 417 S. Madison St. The event includes a 5K run and a 1-mile fun run/walk. The event is held by the Wellness Council of Boyertown.
Awards will be presented to the top overall male and female, the top three in multiple age brackets for the 5K race, the largest family and the person who traveled the farthest, plus many giveaways for anyone who registers in advance. Prizes include gift baskets and gift certificates.
Registration for the 5K costs $30 for adults, $20 for children 12 and under through Oct. 31. The price goes up to $35 after Oct. 31, including race day. Theology with a Twist
Theology with a Twist’s Nov. 5 program features the Rev. Becky Sausser presenting “Naughty Bits of the Bible: Passages We Love to Ignore.” The program takes place at 7 p.m. in the Kutztown Tavern, 272 W. Main St. This presentation is not appropriate for children.
Sausser, head pastor at St. John’s UCC in Allentown, will discuss how biblical text gets caught in crossfire amid discussions about banning books.
Theology with a Twist meets in the upper room at the tavern. The event is free, but food and drink can be purchased in the restaurant downstairs and brought up to the event space. Parking is available in the community lot behind the tavern or on Main Street. All are welcome.
