KU professor honored
Dr. Maria Asteriadou, professor of piano and chamber music at Kutztown University, has been inducted into the Steinway and Sons Teacher Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony, recognizing her outstanding commitment to piano instruction, took place Oct. 5 at the Steinway factory in New York.
Alongside her globally acclaimed performing career, she is an educator at institutions such as Manhattan School of Music and Kutztown University.
“It is indeed a great honor and privilege to be inducted into the Steinway Teacher Hall of Fame,” Asteriadou said in the university’s announcement of her honor. “I have been a Steinway Artist since 2018 and greatly value this relationship. The responsiveness, range of dynamics and coloristic palette of the Steinway piano have become an indispensable part of my performing and teaching life. I am also eternally grateful for our students at Kutztown University to have Steinway pianos to practice and perform on.”
Asteriadou was honored alongside professors from prestigious institutions such as the Curtis Institute of Music, The Juilliard School, Jacobs School of Music and West Chester University.
