Trinity Lutheran Church, 527 Washington St., recently hosted the Let’s Dance Big Band’s concert Swinging Into Christmas as a part of the congregation’s Wolfe Concert Series.
For this series, Trinity pays all costs associated with hosting the ensemble, taking a free-will offering to support the important work of other local organizations.
The Dec. 1 concert of festive, seasonal music had around 200 attendees. Lt. Hector Cid of the Reading Citadel spoke about the work of the Salvation Army in Reading. Supplemented by a gift from the congregation, the offering from that evening totaled $3,500.
On Tuesday, Trinity, represented by Karen S. Eddinger, minister of music, and the Rev. Hans E. Becklin, senior pastor, and the Let’s Dance Big Band, represented by director Charlie Randazzo, presented a check to Cid at the Reading Citadel of the Salvation Army, 301 S. Fifth St.
Trinity’s Wolfe Series is named in honor of Dr. Rändel Wolfe, the congregation’s late director of music and the arts, and occurs seasonally. The Albright Chamber Ensemble will present the next concert in this series on March 10 at 4 p.m.
