Coroner’s office looking to identify body found near Schuylkill River Trail

Officials from the Berks County Coroner’s Office are trying to identify a body that was discovered Friday evening near the Schuylkill River Trail.

The body of the unidentified male was found in the vicinity of 800 River Road in Reading around 7 p.m., according to a statement from the coroner’s office.

The statement said the man is believed to have been living in a nearby homeless encampment.

According to the coroner’s office, the man appears to have been dead for quite some time before his body was discovered, which will make identifying him difficult.

The investigation is ongoing.
