District 3 basketball roundup: Gov. Mifflin boys turn it on in fourth quarter; 2 Berks girls teams advance

Matt Koehler, Jahmair Johnson and Andrew Galantuomo led Gov. Mifflin to a fourth-quarter blitz that rallied the Mustangs to a 58-53 win over Warwick in the first round of the District 3 Class 6A boys basketball playoffs on Tuesday night.

The 10th-seeded Mustangs, on the road at seventh-seeded Warwick, trailed 39-37 with one quarter to play.

Koehler scored eight points, Johnson had six and Galantuomo had five as the Mustangs outscored Warwick 21-14 in the final quarter to advance to the quarterfinals on Friday, where they will play the winner of No. 2 Mechanicsburg and No. 15 Conestoga Valley.

Koehler and Galantuomo each finished with 13 points, Ian Fleming had 10 and Johnson had nine points, all in the second half, for Gov. Mifflin (16-7).

Central Dauphin 69, Muhlenberg 61

Wayne Fletcher scored 20 points to lead sixth-seeded Central Dauphin to a 69-61 win over 11th-seeded Muhlenberg in a Class 6A first round game on Tuesday night.

Central Dauphin (18-4) advances to play third-seeded Cumberland Valley (20-3) at 7 p.m. Friday in the quarterfinals at Cumberland Valley.

For the Muhls (15-8), Shermar Killen scored 28 points, Jayden Kantner had 13 and Jaden Perez added 11.

York Suburban 77, Conrad Weiser 48

Silas Leonard scored 17 points to lead fourth-seeded York Suburban to a 77-48 victory over Conrad Weiser in the first round of the Class 5A boys tournament.

York Suburban (18-6) advances to play the winner of Octorara-Cocalico on Friday.

For the Scouts (12-11), Brady McKee scored 12 points and Gavin Rapp had 11.

Girls

Berks Catholic 58, Bishop McDevitt 49

Madison Langdon scored 16 points and Sydney Corado added 15 to lead Berks Catholic to a 58-49 win over Bishop McDevitt in the first round of the District 3 Class 4A girls basketball tournament on Tuesday.

The seventh-seeded Saints (12-11) travel to second-seeded Northern Lebanon (19-3) for a 7 p.m. quarterfinal game on Friday.

Oley Valley 51, Columbia 47

Isabella Buehler scored 15 points and Lily Hare added 12 as Oley Valley advanced in the District 3 Class 3A girls tournament with a 51-47 win over Columbia.

In Friday’s semifinals, the Lynx (15-8) play second-seeded Pequea Valley (18-2) at 7 p.m. at Pequea Valley.
