District 3 boys tennis: Gerloff, Khachane roll to singles titles

Daniel Boone’s Chase Gerloff and Wyomissing’s Parth Khachane won singles titles on Saturday in the District 3 Boys Tennis Tournament at Hershey Racquet Club.

Gerloff rolled to victory in Class 3A, with Khachane taking the 2A title. Both entered the tourney as top seeds.

Gerloff, who had not lost a game all season let alone a set, lost just games in four matches.

The Blazer sophomore defeated second-seed Zach Keiper of Ephrata 6-1, 6-1 in the finals on Saturday after beating Twin Valley’s Dylan Bonds 6-0, 6-0 in the semifinals.

In Friday’s matches, Gerloff blanked Central Dauphin’s Andrew Gergal 6-0, 6-0 in the first round and then beat Manheim Township’s Ryan Palandjian 6-2, 6-0 in the quarterfinals.

Khachane, a freshman, also didn’t lose a set in the tournament in taking the 2A title.

He defeated Wesley Crumling of Eastern York, 6-0, 6-1, in the championship match on Saturday after beating Trinity’s Rowan Bayley 6-1, 6-0 earlier in the day in the semifinals.

On Friday, he downed Bermudian Springs’ Bryce Laughman 6-1, 6-0 in the first round and then beat Hayden Winey of Pequea Valley 6-0, 6-0 in the quarterfinals.

Next up for Gerloff and Khachane is the PIAA championships May 23-24 at Hershey Racquet Club.

Bonds lost in the consolation finals, 6-1, 6-2, to Michael Georgelis of Lancaster Country Day, but advanced to the state tournament because the top four in 3A qualify.
