District 3 Class 6A boys basketball: Wilson will play for fifth place

Luke Levan scored 20 points to lead the Wilson Bulldogs to a 67-51 win over William Penn in a consolation semifinal game in the District 3 Class 6A boys basketball tournament on Tuesday night.

The Bulldogs (18-6) will play the winner of Cumberland Valley-Mechanicsburg for fifth place on Thursday at the site of the winner of that game because they are the higher seed.

Levan scored six points in the first quarter as the Bulldogs took a 10-9 lead.

Madyx Gruber scored five points in the second quarter as Wilson led 24-22 at halftime.

Levan had seven points and Gruber five as the Bulldogs stretched the lead to 43-34 after three quarters.

John Etim had six points and Levan five in the final period as the Bulldogs pulled away, outscoring William Penn 24-17 in the final eight minutes.

Gruber finished with 17 points and Etim nine.

Wilson had already qualified for the PIAA tournament and Thursday’s game will determine its seeding and opponent in the state tournament.
