District 3 football playoffs: Eight Berks teams qualify; four get byes

Eight Berks have qualified for the District 3 football playoffs with four of them receiving byes in the opening round.

Wilson (6A), Conrad Weiser (5A), Wyomissing (4A) and Twin Valley (4A) get a week off before starting the postseason.

Gov. Mifflin (6A), Exeter (5A), Schuylkill Valley(3A) and Berks Catholic (3A) will play in the opening round.

Gov. Mifflin, 5-5 and the ninth seed in 6A, will play at eighth-seeded Cumberland Valley (5-5) at 7 p.m. Friday.

In 5A, eighth-seeded Exeter (9-1) hosts ninth-seeded South Western (7-3) at 7 p.m. Friday.

In 3A, third-seeded and Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 5 championship Schuylkill Valley (8-2) hosts sixth-seeded Littlestown (6-4).

And also Friday night in 3A, fifth-seeded Berks Catholic (6-4) travels to fourth-seeded Biglerville (7-3).

Wilson, 9-1 and the LL Section 1 champion, is the second seed and will open play on Friday, Nov. 9 against the winner of Hempfield-Cedar Crest. The game will be at Wilson at 7 p.m.

Manheim Township, which was beaten 34-16 on Friday night by Wilson, is the top seed in Class 6A with a 9-1 record.

The Scouts, who are 10-0 and won the LL Section 3 title, will host the winner of Bishop McDevitt-Lower Dauphin at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8.

In 4A, Wyomissing (8-2) is the second seed and will play at home at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9 against the winner of East Pennsboro-Susquehannock.

Twin Valley (8-2) is the fifth seed in 4A and and play at fourth-seeded Susquehanna Township (8-2) at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8.
