Three Berks football teams No. 1 in District 3 power rankings

Three Berks County teams are No. 1 in their classifications in the District 3 power rankings through Week 6 of the high school football season.

Wyomissing in Class 3A, Berks Catholic in 4A and Gov. Mifflin in 5A are No. 1. Eight teams are in position to qualify for the District 3 playoffs.

Wyomissing (6-0) is one of three Berks teams ranked in the top eight in Class 3A. Hamburg (5-1) is No. 3 and Schuylkill Valley (2-4) is No. 6. Boiling Springs (5-1) is No. 2 in 3A. The top eight qualify.

In Class 4A, Berks Catholic (4-2) has the highest power ranking followed by Big Spring (5-1). Conrad Weiser (4-2) is No. 8. The top 10 teams qualify.

In Class 5A, Gov. Mifflin (5-0) is No. 1 and Exeter (4-2) is No. 7 heading into their Berks Football League Section 1 showdown Friday night in Reiffton.

Twin Valley (4-2) is ranked ninth in 5A, where 14 teams qualify for the playoffs. Daniel Boone at No. 15 and Fleetwood at No. 18 are just below the cut line.

In Class 6A, Wilson (3-3) is the highest-ranked Berks team at No. 12. Only the top eight make the field.

Central York (6-0) is No. 1 in Class 6A followed by CD East and Harrisburg.
