Mentored Youth Trout Fishing Day is scheduled for Saturday, March 29, at Sweet Arrow Lake County Park. The lake will be stocked with trout as more than 200 young people try to catch a big one. The event is sponsored by Tevis Energy and Modern Comfort.
No registration is required. All eligible participants will receive a free gift, and $2,000 in tagged fish will also be stocked. Mentored Youth Trout Day includes a license or free permit for people under 16 and a trout stamp and license for mentors. Members of Schuylkill County Trout Unlimited will be on hand to assist novice anglers.
More fishing
Registration is open for Sweet Arrow Lake’s Betty Dietz and Bruce Schneck Memorial yearlong fishing event, which kicks off on April 12. Information is available at www.sweetarrowlakepark.com.
Deadline for registration at Werner Lumber, Stony Gun and Archery and Tremont Mini-Mart will be April 11 or until 4 p.m. April 12 at the Fish and Boat Access Pavilion. Event organizers will be at the pavilion March 29 and April 5, 6 and 12to take registrations and provide food for sale.
There will be $23,000 worth of trout stocked during the course of April. Cash prizes will be awarded to anglers who catch tagged fish.
The Friends of Schuylkill Parks and Recreation are providing matching funds for donations to support these activities. Contributions can be mailed to Friends of Schuylkill Parks and Recreation, PO Box 81, Friedensburg, PA 17933.
