BOYERTOWN — The 71st Boyertown Citizen of the Year Gala in April will recognize those who go above and beyond to help the Boyertown community.
“Our community wouldn’t be as remarkable as it is without the hard work and dedication of these volunteers. It takes countless individuals consistently giving their time to keep everything running smoothly,” Lindsey Mason, Boyertown Citizen of the Year committee member and 66th Citizen of the Year recipient, said in a statement.
The 71st Boyertown Citizen of the Year will be presented to Rick Drumheller. His years of service to various organizations includes Pine Forge Athletic Association, Pottstown Athletic League, New Ridge Fellowship and Keystone Fire Company.

The First Responder of the Year will be presented to Gary Conrad, who has devoted more than 52 years of service across various local fire companies.
Mentor of the Year will be presented to Boyertown Area School District teacher and coach Tim Bauman.
High School Senior of the Year will be presented to Boyertown Area Senior High senior Abi Dawson. Her involvement includes Scouting America formerly Boy Scouts of America, NJROTC, and many other school organizations.
The Special Recognition Award will be presented to Bear Fever, a collaborative public art project inspired by a desire to celebrate and beautify Boyertown using Boyertown’s bear mascot. Founded by Paul and Jane Stahl, Bear Fever installs life-sized fiberglass bear sculptures throughout the Boyertown community to create greater community cohesiveness across generations, professions, and interests, according to http://www.bearfever.org/.

“When speaking about our winners, I can confidently say that each one of them serves our community with integrity, dedication, and remarkable humility. While many may not realize the extent of their contributions, they give tirelessly for the betterment of our community,” said Mason.
Recipients will be honored at the 71st Annual Citizen of the Year Gala on April 12.
The Boyertown Citizen of the Year committee — comprised of past award recipients and community members — reviews nominations submitted by the community from December through January and selects the recipients for Citizen of the Year, First Responder of the Year, Mentor of the Year, High School Senior of the Year and the Special Recognition Award.
“The committee chooses a person in each category that best exemplifies the support and volunteerism that is imperative to our community’s daily operation in that category,” said Mason. “These people are individuals that have gone above and beyond in their category and in our Boyertown-area community and we are thrilled to honor them at our annual gala!”
“Recognizing these individuals not only honors their efforts but also encourages others in the community to get involved in events and activities that make a difference,” added Mason.
Held from 5 to 8 p.m. on April 12 at the Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles, the 71st Annual Citizen of the Year Gala opens with a meet and greet and hors d’oeuvres from 5 to 6 p.m. The awards ceremony will start after 6 p.m. The in-person gala is limited to 125 people. Proceeds will benefit the Citizen of the Year recipient’s choice of charity.
“We hope the recipients truly feel the pride our community has in them. Additionally, we hope the audience experiences that same sense of community,” said Mason.
Tickets for the gala are available at boyertowncoty.com. Gala event ticket reservations are $30 in advance or $35 per person at the door if any space is still available. No paper ticket will be sent; all prepaid reservations will be on record at the door.
