Green Building Alliance Announces Upcoming Resilient Reading Roundtable Events

From Green Building Alliance

The Green Building Alliance invites the community to the free Resilient Reading roundtable events scheduled for November and December.

Where’s the money going? Federal Funding Priorities for Sustainable Infrastructure

Tuesday, Nov. 18, from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Virtual | Free

Register at gba.org/events.

Federal dollars are flowing into communities for all kinds of infrastructure projects — but where should you really be focusing your efforts right now? Should your next big move be installing EV chargers or solar panels? Or is there more momentum (and money) behind projects like stormwater management, brownfield cleanup, or shoring up vulnerable sites?

Join Matt Ward of Sustainable Strategies DC for a practical conversation about how federal funding priorities are shifting and what that means for local governments, institutions, and developers looking to invest in energy efficiency, renewable energy, indoor air quality, resiliency, weatherization, environmental remediation, brownfield redevelopment, and historic preservation.

Matt has helped communities across the country secure competitive funding for projects that strengthen local economies and infrastructure. He’ll share what’s working right now, what’s not, and how to position your capital projects for success under the current administration.

This discussion comes at an especially exciting time for Reading — recently selected as the only city in Pennsylvania to receive a $250,000 planning grant through the Municipal Investment Fund (MIF). This national initiative, led by ICLEI USA, will enable Reading to develop a public-private partnership plan to guide community investment in green infrastructure and sustainable development projects. The MIF grant is helping the city chart a path toward cleaner energy, more resilient infrastructure, and equitable economic growth.

Who should join: Municipal leaders, utilities, schools, hospitals, universities (the MUSH sector), and private developers interested in advancing resilient, sustainable infrastructure projects.

You’ll come away with:

  • A clearer picture of which project types are getting traction (and which aren’t)
  • Tips for identifying and competing for relevant federal funding streams
  • Insight into how to prioritize your capital improvements for the greatest impact
  • Inspiration from Reading’s approach to leveraging partnerships and planning for long-term sustainability
