Fresh off her win in the BCIAA individual girls tennis championship, Hamburg senior Mia Gassert brought home another gold after defeating Biglerville’s Paytyn Plank 6-0, 6-3 in the District 3 Class 2A girls individual tennis final Saturday at Hershey Racquet Club.
It is Gassert’s first individual District title. She had a runner-up finish in 2022.
Gassert, the second seed in the tournament, defeated Lancaster Catholic’s Serafima Billis 6-1, 6-2 in the semifinal round on Saturday, and on Friday, Evyennia Raudenbush of Big Spring 7-5, 6-4 in the quarterfinal round. Also on Friday, Gassert defeated Berks Catholic’s Ariana Plevrakis 6-0, 6-2 in the opening round.
