Head wrestling coach retiring at Schuylkill Haven Area School District

The head wrestling coach at Schuylkill Haven Area School District will be departing the position, according to school officials.

Dave Osatchuk’s retirement was announced at a meeting Wednesday.

“Dave was a dedicated and loyal coach for many years and will be missed for sure,” superintendent Shawn Fitzpatrick told MediaNews Group. “He has indicated that he hopes to find time to volunteer and still stay close to the program in the future.”

A replacement for Osatchuk hasn’t been found, Fitzpatrick said, but the position will posted in the coming days.

Also at the meeting, officials noted that the district has been awarded a $350,000 state grant for repairs to the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system at the middle school.

Fitzpatrick said the district applied for $1.5 million in hopes of being able to replace the boiler system and units in every classroom.

“We can only afford to replace one third of the classroom units and cannot replace the boiler system at this time,” Fitzpatrick said.

In addition, officials:

• Approved the purchase of a former police cruiser for $4,500 to serve as a school security vehicle.

Announced that the class of 2025 graduation will take place May 29.•
