Heat advisory in effect for portions of southeastern PA, storms forecast for region

A heat index of up to 99 degrees is forecast for today in Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Lower Bucks counties, according to a heat advisory issued by the National Weather Service at 3:19 a.m. Monday.

The heat advisory is in effect from noon until 8 p.m.

Highs in the rest of southeastern Pennsylvania and southcentral New Jersey are expected to reach the high 80s or low 90s.

There is a chance of severe thunderstorms and heavy rain leading to flash flooding this afternoon into the evening for all of southeastern Pennsylvania, including Berks County, and portions of central to southeastern New Jersey.

There is a marginal risk of excessive rainfall, more than 0.25 of an inch, the NWS stated.

The low tonight will be around 73 degrees and the chance of thunderstorms and showers increases overnight into Tuesday to around 60%.

The chance of precipitation throughout Tuesday is 90%, the NWS says, with a high around 88 degrees and low of 69.
