Zach Suski completed all eight of his passes for 238 yards and two touchdowns as Berks Catholic defeated Biglerville 48-7 in the District 3 Class 3A quarterfinals on Friday night.
The fifth-seeded Saints (7-4) play at top-seeded Bermudian Sprints (9-1) at 7 p.m. Friday in the semifinals.
Suski’s two touchdown passes were long ones, both to Scott Duffy. The first was 69 yards for a 7-0 lead.
The second bomb to Duffy was 57 yards for a 28-0 halftime lead.
Between the two touchdown passes, Bryce Gumby scored on runs of 4 and 3 yards.
Nate Rose (12 yards) and Aiden Curley (13) rushed for touchdowns in the third quarter as the Saints built a 42-0 lead.
Eight different Saints carried the ball in the game, with Rose the leading rusher with 81 yards on seven carries.
Berks Catholic had 495 yards in total offense.
District 3 Class 6A quarterfinals
Cumberland Valley 44, Gov. Mifflin 12
After Gov. Mifflin jumped to a 6-0, Cumberland Valley ran off 28 unanswered points and cruised to a 44-12 victory on Friday over the Mustangs in the first round of the District 3 Class 6A football playoffs.
Gov. Mifflin, the ninth seed, ends its season 5-6.
Cumberland Valley, 6-5 and the eighth seed, plays at top-seeded Manheim Township (9-1) on Friday.
Gov. Mifflin quarter Javien Pletz put the Mustangs up 6-0 on a 1-yard sneak in the first quarter, and the Mustangs missed the extra point.
Cumberland Valley then rattled off 28 straight points for a three-score lead early in the third quarter.
Freshman quarterback Colton Stamy threw three touchdown passes as Cumberland Valley built a 28-6 lead. He also threw a fourth touchdown pass in the fourth quarter to make it 38-12.
Pletz also scored Gov. Mifflin’s second touchdown, also a one-yard run.
Eastern Conference
Cameron Small rushed for 209 yards on 20 carries as Muhlenberg defeated William Allen 24-0 to win the Eastern Conference Class 5A/6A championship.
The Muhls finish the season 4-7.
In the Class 4A championship game, North Pocono defeated Hamburg 41-0. The Hawks finish the season 6-5.
