Jack’s Pub — Berks’ Oldest Family-Owned Bar — Celebrates 100 Years with Block Party

From Jack’s Pub

A true landmark in Berks County, Jack’s Pub, the county’s oldest family-owned bar, is proudly celebrating 100 years in business on Saturday, May 17, with a special community block party from noon to 6 p.m. at 1500 N. 10th St. in Reading.

Founded in 1925, Jack’s Pub has been owned and operated by the Wennell family for four generations. For a full century, it has served as a gathering place for neighbors, friends, and visitors. To mark this extraordinary milestone, the pub is hosting an afternoon of celebration and appreciation open to all.

Highlights of the 100th Anniversary Celebration include:

  • Delicious chicken BBQ.
  • Live music from a local DJ.
  • A 1923 Model T Touring Car on display, honoring the bar’s early years.
  • Limited-edition 100th anniversary t-shirts available for purchase.
  • Street closure for a full block party atmosphere, providing space for guests to mingle and celebrate safely.

“This anniversary is more than just a birthday — it’s a celebration of community, history, and the people who’ve kept Jack’s Pub alive and thriving for 100 years,” said Kyle Wennell, current owner and great-grandson of the original founder. “We’re proud to be part of this neighborhood’s story and invite everyone to come celebrate with us.”
