Jake Karnish, Tyler Forina combine on no-hitter as Post 625 beats Kutztown in Schuylkill-Berks Legion League South Division playoffs

Jake Karnish and Tyler Forina combined on a no-hitter to lead third-seeded Post 625 to a 10-2 win over second-seeded Kutztown in the opening round of the Schuylkill-Berks Legion League South Division playoffs Tuesday at Kutztown.

In the other opener, top-seeded Wyomissing defeated fourth-seeded Muhlenberg 4-2 at home.

In a winners bracket game Wednesday, Post 625 will play at Wyomissing at 5 p.m. In an elimination game, Muhlenberg will play at Kutztown at 6 p.m.

Karnish did not allow a hit in 6.2 innings. He did allow two runs, one earned, on three walks. He struck out 11. Forina walked one in one-third of an inning.

The Wildcats scored a run in the first, two in the second and three in the third. They put it away with two runs each in the fifth and sixth innings.

For Post 625, Drew Campbell went 3-for-4 with a run and two RBIs, Adam Knoll 2-for-2 with a run and two RBIs, Zachery Rickert 2-for-3 with two doubles, three runs and two RBIs, Bryce Hill 2-for-4 with two doubles and two runs and Colin Stoudt 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Kutztown scored single runs in the second and third innings.

At Wyomissing, Dominic Colon pitched five shutout innings and Nathan Koenig went 2-for-3 with two RBIs to lead the Warriors.

Wyomissing scored two runs each in the first and second innings to go up 4-0.

Colon allowed four hits, walked two and struck out 10.

The A’s cut it to 4-2 in the sixth on RBIs by Chris Avram and Elijah Keller (2-for-3).

Darren Brunner got the final out in the sixth and pitched a scoreless seventh to earn the save. He allowed one hit and struck out two.

Aidan Cirulli went 2-for-4 with a triple, a run and an RBI, and Harrison Weis went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI for Wyomissing.

The North Division playoffs open Wednesday.

At Hamburg, third-seeded Schuylkill Valley will face second-seeded Pine Grove at 5:30. The loser will face top-seeded Hamburg in a second game to follow.

The division winners will meet in a best-of-three series that starts Saturday.
