Carly Angstadt throws 5-inning no-hitter for Gov. Mifflin in Berks Softball League quarterfinal win

Carly Angstadt threw a five-inning no-hitter to lead Gov. Mifflin to an 11-0 victory over Conrad Weiser in a Berks Softball League quarterfinal Saturday at Muhlenberg.

In the second game of the doubleheader, Danielle Hayward threw a four-hitter to help Berks Catholic defeat Wilson 6-1.

In the first game of a semifinal doubleheader Tuesday at Lyons, the top-seeded Mustangs (17-3) will take on fourth-seeded Kutztown (17-4) at 5 p.m. The sixth-seeded Saints (14-3) will play second-seeded Hamburg (18-3) in the second game.

Kutztown beat Exeter 6-0 and Hamburg defeated Fleetwood 7-6 in the other quarterfinals.

For Mifflin Saturday, Angstadt walked one and struck out 13.

The Mustangs broke through against the eighth-seeded Scouts (10-8) with six runs in the third and five in the fourth.

Offensively for Mifflin, Kayla Williams was 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs, Sophia Schmehl went 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, two runs and an RBI, and Serenity Snyder was 1-for-2 with a run and three RBIs.

In the second game, Heyward walked two and struck out 12. She allowed a run in the first, then shut out the third-seeded Bulldogs (14-6) the rest of the way.

Berks Catholic scored three runs in the second, two in the third and one in the sixth.

Giana Mirenda went 2-for-3 with a double, a triple and two runs for the Saints. Kayley Walls was 2-for-3 with a double, a run and two RBIs, and Celeste Mirenda drove in two runs.

For Wilson, Tatum Werley tripled and scored and Lexi Troutman was 2-for-3 with an RBI.
