Lancaster-Lebanon League football: Exeter’s offense rewarded in Section 2 awards

Exeter’s high-powered offense was recognized in voting by the Lancaster-Lebanon League football coaches when it came to postseason awards in Section 2.

The Eagles have three players on the offensive side of the ball who earned top honors.

Jayden Zandier was voted the outstanding back of the year and the offensive back of the year, Logan Wegman was named lineman of the year and receiver Carter Redding was the co-wide receiver of the year.

Zandier gained 2,093 yards rushing on 183 carries for an eye-popping 11.44 yards per carry. He scored 30 rushing touchdowns for the Eagles, who went 12-2 and advanced to the District 3 Class 5A championship game.

Redding caught 36 passes for 676 yards and 8 touchdowns.

Exeter tight end Genuine Stutzman also was voted to the first team. Stutzman made 20 catches for 339 yards and 6 touchdowns.

The first team running backs were all Berks players, with Gov. Mifflin senior Grady Garner and Muhlenberg junior Cameron Small being selected to the other two spots.

Garner gained 1,453 yards on 240 carries and scored 19 touchdowns.

Small gained 2,051 yards on 250 carries and scored 23 touchdowns.

Also named to the first team offense were Gov. Mifflin junior guard Dylan Worley and Muhlenberg senior tackle Samson Evans.

Wegman was a unanimous selection as a lineman on both sides of the ball.
