What is the rationale in linking border security with Ukraine aid in the same bill? Certainly each issue merits careful attention on its own. I find this comingling counterproductive to solving either issue.
Congress is not doing anything productive for the citizens, but lawmakers are spending a great deal of money. They are stupid.
While on the subject of stupidity, let me posit some issues that if comingled in legislative bills would make indeed strange bedfellows. Let’s combine legislation on abortion rights with a capital punishment practices review. Let’s combine legislation defunding the United Nations with increasing Federal Emergency Management Agency funding of local disasters, like the Antietam School District suffered. Combining term limit legislation and voting rights issues might get interesting.
At any rate, I think you get the point. Nothing of what I suggested would get past square one. Pretty much, this is the condition that we find ourselves in. Nothing gets done … certainly nothing of any value. Maybe if Congress attacked one issue at a time something positive could result.
