I applaud Reading Councilwoman Marcia Goodman-Hinnershitz for opposing the plan for 601 Penn St. in Reading (“Understanding property history,” Reading Eagle, July 28). I believe the developer seeking to convert the building into apartments is interested in return on investment, not people’s comfort. The size of the units is like putting me in a dog cage. How will this affect the mental health of the residents? Do you want more sidewalk sitters on Penn Street?
I avoid driving through parts of Reading because of the density city leaders have allowed. How much tax will this bring to Reading? That’s the big question.
