In regards to concerns about accidents at the intersection of Dryville Road and the Fleetwood-Lyons Road (“Safety drive,” Reading Eagle, Dec. 4). I have driven that road for over 50 years on my way from home to Reading.
Yes, people drive too fast on that road going to and from work, notably to and from East Penn Manufacturing Co. I have seen many accidents at or near that intersection. The way to fix the situation is to create a third lane for turning left on Dryville Road from the right lane.
Yes, it will be a costly fix, but how many more lives will be lost or people seriously injured at that location?
PennDOT needs to start a project, and East Penn as the largest employer in Berks County should push this correction.
