I remember many important things in my life. Trinity, Brandywine, Topton and the USA.
Trinity has meant freedom to worship our Lord and Savior. Brandywine has meant a free opportunity to learn and express thoughts. Topton has meant a chance to serve our town and help make it great. The military was a way to serve our country and make it the home of the free because of the brave.
In 1958 I was honored to represent Berks County at the National Student Convention in Missouri. I heard an adviser to President Dwight Eisenhower speak on youth fitness. Five foreign exchange students who attended spoke about their stay in America.
When I came home Brandywine hosted the Berks County Student Convention in 1959. That was also a success, according to Elizabeth Jensen, who wrote a school newspaper article about it.
All my life I’ve believed in service and freedom of expression, and I believe we need to make America great again. If I can’t say that, then I’ve lost the freedom I’ve always cherished.
God bless America, and let’s make her greater than she’s ever been.
