Participants had a month from July 4 to Aug. 4 to complete their leg of the 10th annual A-Cross America Relay event, a national pro-life event.
Members of the Reading Chapter of Life Runners met in Pottstown at the Philadelphia Premium Outlets to participate in their leg of the the relay, walking 3.2 miles in and around the Outlets on Sunday, July 31. Participating members included Ken Reber of Boyertown, Sharon Blankenbiller of Barto, Sharon D’Andrea of Reading, Robin Ward of Boyertown, Catherine Hill of Birdsboro and Patricia Reber of Reading. The group prayed prior to starting their walk.
The National Run covered 5,359 miles across the country. Runners and walkers created a Cross Across America by connecting the East and West Coasts, running from the Golden Gate Bridge to the Brooklyn Bridge. It connected the North and South in the middle of the country starting in Forks, N.D. and ending in San Antonio, Texas. Participants proclaim a simple message on their shirts: “Remember the Unborn Jer. 1:5”. The A-Cross America Relay is broken into various length segments of two to five miles each.
