The Mount Penn Preserve Partnership is looking for public participation in preparing a forest stewardship and trails plan for the mountain preserve.
The partnership, known as MP3, will hold a meeting Dec. 5.
The event will include a presentation on the project, interactive informational stations and opportunities for residents to offer comments and suggestions about how the trails and forest could be maintained and improved.
The 4,000-acre preserve is owned by Reading and falls within the boundaries of Reading, Mount Penn, and Alsace and Lower Alsace townships.
More than 40 miles of bicycling and hiking trails wind through the mountain forest rich in natural, recreational and historical resources.
MP3 is made up of officials from the four municipalities and Berks County. It was established in 2018 with the goal of making the preserve a destination for all to enjoy, and has joined with Natural Lands to prepare the plan.
Natural Lands is a nonprofit organization that saves open space, cares for nature and connects people to the outdoors in eastern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey.
Those wishing to participate can join the meeting in person or virtually.
