The Miss Berks County Scholarship Organization held its annual scholarship competition Saturday at Gov. Mifflin High School.
This year the event included a new title of Miss Pretzel City. Winners get an opportunity to compete at the Miss Pennsylvania competition in York in June and earn scholarships. This year’s winners are:
Miss Berks County — Madelyn Rowan, 20, Auburn, a student attending West Chester University. Also winner of a $50 talent prize for doing an Irish Dance and $50 overall interview award. Her community Service Initiative is the Loosen the Leash Project.
Miss Greater Reading — AK Hazel, 25, West Chester, is a West Chester University graduate. Her community service initiative is Thrive: Better Lives for Trans Youth
Miss Pretzel City – Madelyn Whitcraft, 19, Lancaster, attends Dickinson College. Winner of $300 for the Christine Biese Memorial Scholarship. Her community service initiative is Order in Her Court: Empowering Women in Law
Two teens were crowned and awarded $300 scholarships each. They are:
Miss Berks County’s Teen — Lexi Pompa, 14, Sewickley, Allegheny County, attends Ingomar Middle School. Awarded $50 talent prize for her lyrical dance, $50 overall interview award, $50 Smile award and full scholarship to the New York City Dance Alliance convention. Her community service initiative is:Hunger Hurts: Fighting Food Insecurity for All.
Miss Greater Reading’s Teen — Lynzi Allen, 16, Perkasie, Bucks County, a student at Pennridge High School.
