Oley Valley advances to District 3 boys soccer final with win over Boiling Springs

Oley Valley defeated Boiling Springs in the second round of penalty kicks Tuesday night to advance to the District 3 Class 2A boys soccer championship game.

With the 2-1 victory (6-5 penalty kicks), the seventh-seeded and defending champion Lynx will play top-seeded Lancaster Mennonite for the title Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Hersheypark Stadium.

Lancaster Mennonite defeated No. 4 seed Wyomissing 4-0, ending the season for the Spartans (15-5-1).

At Boiling Springs, Nate Fatkin scored off an assist from Josey Williamson midway through the second half to give Oley Valley (16-5-1) a 1-0 lead.

Boiling Springs (17-2) tied it late in the second half.

The game remained tied through two overtimes as Oley Valley goalie Corbin Teeters and Boiling Springs keeper Carson Metzger made big saves to send the game to penalty kicks.
