Alexandra Lopez had a goal and an assist Wednesday night to help Oley Valley defeat visiting Boiling Springs 3-1 in a District 3 Class 1A field hockey semifinal game at Oley.
The victory advances the top-seeded Lynx (20-2) to the championship game Saturday at 1 p.m. at Central Dauphin’s Landis Field to face defending champion Greenwood.
Lopez got the Lynx started less than two minutes into the game with a goal assisted by Molly Rothenberger.
Midway through the second quarter, Lopez assisted on a goal by Lauren Schaeffer to give the Lynx a 2-0 halftime lead.
Boiling Springs scored in the opening minutes of the third quarter to trim Oley Valley’s lead.
Tetje Williamson scored with 1:30 left in the third quarter as the Lynx regained their two-goal cushion.
In the Class 3A semifinals, Lower Dauphin defeated Wilson 2-0. The fourth-seeded Bulldogs (17-5) will host Central York in the third-place game Saturday, tentatively scheduled for 5 p.m.
In a Class 2A playback game, Fleetwood defeated Garden Spot 4-3 in overtime to clinch a PIAA playoff berth. The Tigers (17-5) will host Hershey at 3 p.m. Saturday in the the fifth-place game.
