Oley Valley’s Morgan Snyder, Twin Valley’s Maddie Stevens are named high school field hockey All-Americans

Oley Valley’s Morgan Snyder and Twin Valley’s Maddie Stevens have earned All-American honors from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association, it was announced Monday.

Snyder, a senior, made the 16-player second team as a midfielder. Stevens, a senior, is the only goalie on the 16-player third team.

Snyder, the Berks Player of the Year and a two-time All-Berks selection, had 23 goals and 15 assists for 61 points this season for the Lynx, ranking second in the BCIAA in goals and points. She was tied for second in assists. She will play next season at Penn State.

Snyder helped Oley (27-1) win Berks, District 3 Class 1A and PIAA Class 1A championships. She scored the game-winning goal on a penalty stroke in the Lynx’s 4-3 win over Lackawanna Trail in the state final.

Stevens, a four-time All-Berks pick, helped a relatively inexperienced Twin Valley team go 10-10 and qualify for the Berks and District 3 Class 2A playoffs. She had seven shutouts. She will play next season at Liberty.

Snyder and Stevens were named to the NFHCA All-Region team from Pennsylvania last month, and to the Pennsylvania Field Hockey Coaches Association All-State first teams last week. Snyder made the Class 1A All-State team for the third straight season, while Stevens was on the Class 2A team for the third year in a row.

The All-American teams were selected from a pool of 171 student-athletes who earned All-Region honors.
